"This exposure to such striking and inspirational landscapes has instilled in Bell a fascination with the patterns of the environment around him. He uses a variety of found objects to convey the complex relationships between the chaos and order he sees in these patterns."
He rarely uses a brush, preferring instead to use his fingers, knives, trowels, sand, spray paints and a variety of builders materials to create impasto surfaces. He has also experimented with holographic foils in paint to simulate the wonderful light in Northumberland. Bell has is in the middle of an extraordinary professional career and has recently been awarded the 2006 Palm Art Award from Art Domain in Liepzig, Germany, winning second prize from an impressive selection of international Artists. He regularly features at the prestigious Biscuit Factory in Newcastle, along with many others in the UK and abroad.
We are very pleased to be working with Mike once again and look forward to featuring his striking abstract landscapes in forthcoming exhibitions.
